You can upload three (3) thirty second audio files onto Hotsource. We found a great freeware tool called Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) which has the editing tools you need to cut a track down to 30 seconds, to add fade in and fade out, and to export the content into an .mp3 file.
If you use YouTube, you can link to your video using the YouTube url link.
Make sure people cand find you or your band. Add the suburb and state to the band or muso/singer profile so people can find you when they look in a certain place.

We have a "don't ask, don't tell" policy regarding the real identity of The Metro Gnome. Sorry about that. But if word got out, he is SURE that he would be harrassed by paparazzi day and night. Best to keep it a secret and let him continue to dream about how popular and important he is. In the bigger scheme of things, it doesn't really matter who he is, just that he can hit deadlines (well, most of the time....) is opinionated, loves music, and can string a sentence together.

The Hotsource Directory is the cornerstone of the whole website. We build our information from the individual up - because its YOU that matters to Hotsource. Individual Musicians and Singers should be in the Hotsource Directory - just click Add Muso/Singer to add individual people. Then add bands (big and small) to the Hotsource Directory - attach each band member to the band. We want people to be able to find YOU. We’ve tried to make it easy, so dive on in!
A few minutes now = A great crowd at every Gig! Here's what you have to do...
Musos/Singers
You need to be listed in the Hotsource directory. If you're not there, simply click on the Add Muso/Singer and follow the steps. It's absolutely free to put the information in. You can even put in all of your nicknames so everyone can find you.
Bands
Need to be listed in the Hotsource directory. If your band is not there, simply click on the Add Band and follow the steps. It's absolutely free to put the information in. THEN - make sure the Musos and Singers are listed in the band. People can look up the band name or any of the people in the band and find out where you're playing! How cool is that?!
Venues
Need to be listed in the Hotsource directory. We have lots of Venues already in our database, but there are always more to put in. If you have a Gig at a Venue that isn't in our database, then please give us as much information about the Venue as you can by clicking on Add Venue. Note: We validate all Venue information.
Basic Gig Listings are completely free and enable people to find the gig by one of three fields: date, venue, or band name. Basic Gigs Listings can be added by anyone as long as they are logged in.
An Upgraded Gig Listing gives your gig great presence and exposure. Instead of just the date, place and band names - for just $9.95 per gig you can add pictures, weblinks, and be rotated on Hotsource as the Featured Gig. Here are the fields that are visible to the public for an Upgraded Gig Listing:

When you select a Headliner, the gig is listed with the headliner in front.
If you are a promoter - or if you have more than 10 gigs to promote each year - then the Hotsource Promoter's Package is for you! Every gig you enter is automatically upgraded (see what an upgraded gig is just above this FAQ).

You need to be in the Hotsource Muso and Singer Directory. Search the directory to see if you are there already. If you are not - add yourself.
The process to get you into the Hotsource Directory may seem to be a bit of a pain. Our administrators will have to validate you as a contributor before you can proceed. But in the end you know that you control the data about you.
NO HACKERS ALLOWED!
Be assured that information about you is controlled by you - only you (or people you approve) can make modifications to your own listing. This way you can use Hotsource reliably to market yourself!
Most online music industry resources ignore the individual musician. At Hotsource, we respect the fact that every band is made up of individuals. And we know that individuals perform in lots of different situations. We want to provide you with a service that enables you to GET OUT THERE and to tell other people where YOU are.
Are you in a band? Maybe you're in more than one! All the better...
First, make sure every band member is in the Hotsource Directory.
Step 3:
Search for your band name or add your band. When you create the band, make sure you add each band member to the band member list. What's the benefit? The Hotsource Gig Guide searches on both Band names AND Muso/Singer names - so if someone searches the name of a person in your band, they'll find your gig! It's all about YOU!
We care about your band's information! Although anyone can add a Band to the Hotsource Directory, only approved contributors (and people they approve) can make modifications to your band's listing. This way you can use Hotsource reliably to market your band!
Please note that all venues submitted to Hotsource will be verified for accuracy and will be contacted for more information.
Use Favourites and Alerts to help you get more involved in the music scene. As a registered user of Hotsource, you can customise Hotsource around your likes and interests. You can flag your favourite bands, musos and singers so you always know when they're playing. You can set up your own search area for your gig searches. You can get emails or SMS messages sent to you one night before each of your favourite gigs so you don't miss an important one. It's all up to you.
Yes. When you ask for notifications by SMS you will be charged. We sell a Hotsource Mobile Package (100 SMS notifications) for $20.00 (only 20c per message).
A free update for subscribers on what's new on the site: news, reviews, interviews, gigs, people, venues - you name it - if it's new - you want to know about it! Did we mention that it's free?
Personalisation is why Hotsource is a great resource. Hotsource FANS get information about their favourite bands and musicians without lifting a finger.
An alert is an email or an SMS sent to you to let you know about new information on Hotsource. You can easily request and modify Alerts on your Account page. As you use Hotsource, save your favourite Musos, Singers and Bands in your favourites. Hotsource can let you know when they’ve been added to our Gig Guide. If you have a favourite Venue, add it to your favourites and Hotsource will let you know when gigs are added to that Venue. If you find a gig you want to go to, just save it as a favourite gig and Hotsource will send you a reminder Alert one day before the gig so you don’t miss it.
Email alerts are free. SMS Alerts come in a package of 100 for $20. They don’t expire. Click here to view more information about or order an SMS package.
Banner ads are placed in every Hotsource article and on every Hotsource mailout. Banners promote Venues, Gigs, Bands or any Music Industry Service Provider. All for only $110 per month. Powerful and targeted advertising. Get it while it's HOT!
Instead of using things like Google ads (pay per click) - the Hotsource Website enables you to put a link directly to your website for a simple flat rate. If you are in the music industry, our target market is your target market. $11 per month - unlimited clickthroughs.
Simply log into your Account Home and use the Toolbox to upload and pay for your Banner Ad or Sponsored Link.
Are my Hotsource transactions secure? Is my information safe?
Yes, our bank uses a 128-bit digital server certificate provided by VeriSignTM. This level of encryption is currently considered realistically unbreakable.
No. And credit card numbers are never openly stored within the banking system we use. Transaction data is stored with a truncated PAN-- an abbreviated version of the credit card number --so that merchants can still distinguish transactions, while full credit card details are never stored.
Is GST included in Hotsource prices?
Yes - all prices include GST already.
Why has an item I submitted been disabled by Hotsource?
The accuracy of the Hotsource database and directory is really important to all users. At the same time, Hotsource recognises that timeliness is important, too. To accommodate the time issue, Hotsource has decided that all data provided will be placed online immediately without a review. To take care of the accuracy, Hotsource administrators check every new listing (e.g. venues, musos/singers, bands, and gigs) for completeness and accuracy. If we find an error or a problem, we will disable the entry. You can contact us if you believe we are in error.
