LITTLE BIRDY to release new single

 

LITTLE BIRDY will soon release a new single, the melodic gem HAIRDO, from their acclaimed album CONFETTI.  

“The song’s positive message is just to be yourself in life.  It’s about being in a place where you are comfortable and happy in your own skin” says songwriter/vocalist/ guitarist Katy Steele.  “I feel really blessed to finally be in that sort of headspace”.

 

 To coincide with the release of HAIRDO the band will be doing a rare and intimate acoustic in-store performance at the Apple Store Sydney (cnr George & King Streets, Sydney) on Wednesday 22^nd July at 9.00pm.  This performance will be recorded for the iTunes Live From Sydney series and an EP of live tracks from the show will be released exclusively through iTunes post the performance.  A very limited number of tickets will be available for this in-store. Tickets are free of charge and will be made available on the evening of the performance on a 'first in best dressed' basis at the Apple Store  Sydney.  

The new single, HAIRDO, will be accompanied by a special video that showcases the band in their most personal and intimate performance to date.  The video was filmed recently on a cold winters day in a warehouse at Melbourne’s Docklands.

 

Last week LITTLE BIRDY found themselves again back at the Docklands when they performed at the 2009 APRA Music Awards.   Performing a truly memorable performance of “Brother” the band were joined onstage by the one and only Paul Kelly on backing vocals and some furious harmonica.

 

It marked their very first live performance of this song with Paul Kelly since the band invited Paul into the studio to guest on the recording of the track. “Brother” opens the band’s brand new album CONFETTI. The “Dusty in Memphis”-meets-Midlake set album has spent three consecutive weeks in the national Top 10 and is already on the cusp of GOLD certification.
