16 December 2011 – Due to high demand Australia’s best loved boutique festival, Playground Weekender has announced the sale of day tickets to the three day event taking place in March.  Tickets will allow access for Saturday 2nd of March or Sunday 3rd of March between 9am until close and will be available from Friday 16th December for $119 + booking fee per day.

This year, families will be well catered for as kids under 10 can attend the festival for free and enjoy their very own line-up of entertainment including dance and music workshops, mask making, face painting, a play area, jumping cushion, and children’s yoga.  Access to the site will be a breeze following the introduction of family car passes ($99 + booking fee), allowing vehicles to travel by car ferry and then directly in to the new quiet camping area.  For $199 + booking fee a quiet motorhome pass is also available, which will permit parking nearby amongst the peaceful surrounds.

The award winning festival, now in its sixth year is renowned for its one-of-a-kind atmosphere.  Taking place at the stunning Del Rio Riverside Resort in Wisemans Ferry, NSW, 2012 will be even bigger and better than before as it complements its diverse offering with the following exciting additions:

  •          ‘Get Forked’ a new food area featuring pop up restaurants and tastings showcasing some of Sydney’s finest chefs (details TBA in January)
  •          Total rejuvenation will be achieved in the healing area, featuring massages, crystal healing and pampering
  •          A late night cinema will be showcasing cult classics well into the night
  •          A variety of yoga style classes will be taking place each morning
  •          Delicious cocktails will be available from a range of bars on site
  •          Hand selected fine wines will be served from the exclusive wine bar
  •          Beer garden with draught beer and other beverage delights
  •          The Big Top is moving closer to the main stage providing a more compact  music space

Art will also be a major focus for the festival in 2012 and the organisers would like emerging and established artists to get in touch with their ideas for art installations.  Additionally, people are needed to assist with theming and dressing the site, sign writers and creative types such as photographers and video artists should also email creative@playgroundweekender.com.au.

Andy Rigby, Playground Weekender Promoter comments:

“It’s time to raise the bar in what we offer at Playground Weekender, we want to take the festival-goers  experience to a whole new level, in terms of quality food, fun, music and entertainment.”

Boasting six stages, the infamous Club Tropicana Pool Party, Australia’s largest Fancy Dress Party and a delicious selection of food and drinks – Playground weekender attracts a loyal following who to the riverside retreat return year after year for more guaranteed festival fun times.

A mere 90 minute drive from Sydney, the site will play host to an eclectic mix of artists, pop-up entertainment, giant sized board games, roving performers and a spectacular cabaret stage.

Disco legends Chic featuring founding member Nile Rodgers are headlining the event.  Having been absent from Australian shores for more than a decade, their classic hits including  ‘Everybody Dance’, ‘I Want Your Love’ and ‘Le Freak’ will see the 10,000 strong crowd getting their groove on like never before.  Also performing will be the likes of Fat Freddy’s Drop, five-time ARIA award winning Boy & Bear, Roots Manuva, James Lavelle’s UNKLE Sounds and many, many more.

Once again, the notorious Fancy Dress Saturday will be in full swing in 2012, having become an attraction in itself over the years.  Hold on to your lycra senors and senoritas as The Cuban Brothers are confirmed to host the Fancy Dress catwalk show.
