M.I.B ("Mixed Interracial Brothers") are an Arabic hip hop group whose ultimate ambition is uniting hip hop. I saw them at an Arabic hip hop party at the Bellevue in Bankstown on Sunday night hosted by the boys from FAT PIZZA.

They were awesome, the crowd loved them, and so did I. When I asked them about their influences there answers were pretty generic with responses like Biggie Tupac and Nas, but when it came down to their own style I was pleasantly surprised. In reference to Aussie hip-hop they said naturally they don’t speak with an ocka accent so why should they rap that way? They don’t have American accents either - they described their individual rap style as street slang - they rap like they talk and they’re talking about things they care about and their audience wants to hear. I liked them.

All members of the troupe have a distinct individual flow that’s catchy and smooth and yet they claim to be primarily interested in their lyricism rather than their beats. I couldn’t help but like them. They are down to earth and good at what they do. I definitely recommend checking out the next Arabic hip hop party you hear about, and fingers crossed you will get to see the comedy stylings of FAT PIZZA, the funniest boys alive.

Push play and check out my interview (with the boys from FAT PIZZA) and try not to laugh at me but with them.
