MATT FINISH & DALE BARLOW touring in June

Folk-blues-jazz-funk-rock fusion

Internationally acclaimed brass & woodwind master Dale Barlow (Billy Cobham, Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, Cedar Walton Quartet, Dizzy Gillespie) joins legendary Australian band Matt Finish during June 2008 performing songs from their new album 1978-2008.

New York Times describes Dale Barlow: “Overwhelming invention and ideas” and The Age concurs: “A formidable jazz improviser, original, powerful and articulate.”

According to Rock Brain Of The Universe Glenn A. Baker, “Matt Finish are one of the great Australian song bands”, while Melbourne’s Brecon Walsh offers: “matchless proto-moderne stylists and virtuosi beyond compare”.

So expect great songs, hot players and the kind of connections that long-term friendships often generate.

Matt Finish’s drummer and award winning producer John Prior explains: “Dale’s played with Matt Finish’s Dave Adams, Harry Brus and Parrish’s dad Larry Muhoberac (Elvis, Silverchair, Dean Martin) and we’re all good friends. We both worked on Matt Moffitt’s album By As Little As A Look in London in 1985 and on albums I’ve produced at my studio for guitarist Guy Le Claire, who toured with Matt Finish last year 1991, electronic band Ear Candy with the Matt’s former partner and son, and a groove project we started with Toni Mott (DIG) and Mark Williams (Dragon) for the UK Acid Jazz label in the nineties that never quite got off the ground, but we were friends way before these musical connections: we used to race each other around the primary school playground as kids and we’re looking forward to doing that again in June!”
