YOU AM I

Wednesday, 17 September 2008
God, I’m glad I live in Australia. Else I may never have come to know about You Am I. And I certainly wouldn’t get to see them as often live as I do now. Nor would I have had a chance to gain access to an invite only album launch! (Why You Am I decided to launch their 8th studio album in a motorcycle café is still not really clear to me, but I certainly don’t need any excuses these days to think of a reason to go watch this band.)

Transit-Inc Review "Transit-Inc"

Sunday, 27 July 2008
When a new artist comes from the urban cubby house of arranged marriages, one must ask, ‘What is it that makes "them" different and/or memorable, beyond the pop culture fishing-net’?... and more to the point, ‘What’s inside these musical constructions that will endure long after you’ve left your ipod’? In fact, I asked myself that extremely poignant question on listening to Transit-Inc's currently released new album.

Bullet For My Valentine - Scream Aim Fire

Thursday, 10 July 2008
Bullet’s chaotic guitar riffs are one of the many consistent elements maintained throughout both studio albums (The Poison, 2005 and new release Scream Aim Fire). Although there are no drastic changes in the band’s music between the two, changes in Matt Tuck’s voice are noticeably different due to the vocalist’s throat infection and temporary loss of voice in 2006.

The Cold Comfort - Live

Wednesday, 14 May 2008
This review was submitted by Thea Keeling. I think it furthers the Hotsource belief that "live" music takes you to greater heights than just listening can ever do. GET OUT THERE! A great review -Thanks Thea!
Falling of One

Falling of One Support Screaming Jets

Wednesday, 27 February 2008
Fresh from their recent tour of Melbourne, Central Coast band Falling of One was keen for an opportunity to once again showcase their talents in front of a home crowd. And what better way to do that than to support The Screaming Jets, a band synonymous with classic Aussie pub rock.

dDub Rock Beach Rd Hotel

Thursday, 21 February 2008
Whenever we're fortunate enough to see dDub on our shores, (they're a popular Kiwi ska band) they have the ability to make the audience go completely off. Such was the experience of one Hotsource fan, and the hundreds that packed the Beach Rd Hotel Bondi last weekend.

“Rafe’s Not Shit CD”

Tuesday, 12 February 2008
When you have no money to design and promote your CD, why not make a virtue of it? Rafe Morris has – with cover artwork that looks like a four year old nephew or niece was contracted to design, and a bio typed out on a PC and multiple copies made at the local Kinko’s. It deliberately flounces the struggling artist ethos and celebrates the simplicity of wanting to just record original music and release it to the public. It’s also pretty cute and funny. Which is what Rafe also warns us is what to expect from the music itself.
Rain soaked audience at Tamberlaine

Twilight at Tamburlaine –A Night to Remember

Wednesday, 23 January 2008
In this review lays a lesson. Go with the flow, and be rewarded. Twilight at Tamburlaine. Has a romantic ring to it, especially because Tamburlaine is a winery and the feature entertainment is Kate Ceberano. Envision clear skies in the late afternoon, then the soft glow of dusk, picnic rugs and elegantly dressed guests relaxing with a glass of fine wine. A classy quiet evening of superb entertainment.
The NAMM Show 2008

The NAMM Show

Tuesday, 22 January 2008
Anything and everything that can in any way be related to music is represented at NAMM. Not open to the public, the show provides a forum for manufacturers to introduce their latest products to distributors and retail sales companies. At least that is the fuse that starts this explosion.
